Owen Art

All of our kids went through a great stage when they were learning to draw people.  I remember Isabel’s who drew very large faces with very small eyes/nose/mouth.  It was great.  She has moved on now and Popop has actually taught them some great techniques to draw people but I do miss the old art.  Owen is that great phase right now so I thought I’d post an “Owen Person”.  You can see there really is no body…only a head out of which comes arms and legs.  The mouth is also conveniently connected to the eyes (note the single ear).  He’s also in to tic-tac-toe right now which he drew to the side.

So it’s been a really long time since summer (writing this as snow falls in AK) but I finally made it through some more of the photos from our visit.  One of the highlights was an afternoon with some of our favorite folks.  The hostess bears the name of this blog post (and has her own amazing blog to which she is much more diligent in updating) and has a great setup for the ultimate summer feast.  It starts with a reservoir about a hundred yards away.  We walked over with kids in tow and her hubby was the absolute star for the kids as he vaulted them into the air and picked them up on his shoulders.  I think my daughters were wanting to trade me in.

After swimming we went back for some good eats by some talented chefs.  The kids were only minimally chaotic (actually got along great) so we got to catch up and for a good chunk of the afternoon.  It did go by too fast, but I’m sure we’ll do it again and hopefully soon.
